EIOPA Pension Registers

EIOPA - the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority – publishes on its website three Pension Registers.

The Register of Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision (IORPs) Prudential Provisions (https://register.eiopa.europa.eu/Pages/Supervision/Prudential-Provisions-Register.aspx) contains for each Member State the national provisions of prudential nature relevant to the field of occupational pension schemes under IORP 2 Directive which are not covered by the reference to national social and labour law and represent a centralised source of information at EU level. In accordance with art. 59 IORP 2 Directive, the Register is updated annually.

Subject to Article 9 of the IORP 2 Directive as well as of Article 8 of its own Regulation, EIOPA is obliged to publish a Register of Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision (IORPs) (https://register.eiopa.europa.eu/registers/register-of-institutions-for-occupational-retirement-provision). This Register, updated annually, contains the essential information for the identification of authorised/registered IORPs, including details about their National Competent Authority, the countries where they can operate and their cross-border status. Information on non-IORP pension schemes, sent by National Competent Authorities (NCAs) on voluntary basis, are also published in this Register.

Also in accordance with Article 8 of the EIOPA’s Regulation, EIOPA publishes on its website the Database of Pension Plans and Products in EEA (https://register.eiopa.europa.eu/registers/database-of-pension-plans-and-products-in-the-eea) to provide easily accessible information on private pensions in Europe. The Database, prepared by EIOPA on a best effort basis, with contributions from the relevant NCAs, is a unique resource providing a comprehensive snapshot of the European pensions’ landscape and helps to better understand pension systems in Europe.
